Una historia Afrocubana · An Afro-Cuban legacy

Wear the story. Carry the legacy.

A love letter to the family who crossed borders, rebuilt from courage, and made beauty from survival.

Cuba → United States · A family journey
Sincerely, from all of us

We come from people who packed a lifetime into a suitcase—and still arrived carrying possibility.

Sincerely AfroLatina begins with our family’s Afro-Cuban journey to the United States during the Freedom Flights era. From that foundation, we honor Afro-Caribbean and Latino families across the diaspora who crossed borders, rebuilt home, and preserved the rhythm, memory, and pride of where they came from. Every piece is a conversation between what our families endured, what they carried forward, and what we are free to become.

De aquí · De allá · De nosotros

Two languages. One inheritance.

English

From here, from there, and entirely our own.

Our story begins with one Afro-Cuban family and opens outward to honor Afro-Caribbean and Latino communities across the diaspora. We do not have to simplify who we are in order to belong.

The journey

They left home. They never left themselves.

Our family’s Afro-Cuban story crossed an ocean and entered a country still learning how to see us. Their courage lives in the language we hold onto, the food we make by memory, the music in our bodies, and the truth we refuse to shrink.

“What they carried became what we stand on.”

What we carry forward

For the generation rewriting inheritance.

01

No more choosing

Black, Caribbean, Latino, American—our identities do not need to become smaller to make other people comfortable.

02

Softness is legacy too

We honor the hustle that kept our families alive without treating struggle as the price of being worthy.

03

Receipts, not nostalgia

We pair pride with context: names, dates, archives, and honest conversations about what our communities survived—and what they created.

Because our history should never become a mystery.

Research the archives, record a relative, and build a family record the next generation can actually inherit. Luxury is knowing where you come from—and having the tools to preserve it.
